"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..." - is one of the most popular Christmas hits. Yes, yes... the closer to Christmas, the more naturally thoughts move towards longing for the white powder, which we recently miss in our climate zone. White, the "brightest of the possible shades of gray" has been one of the most popular colours used for interior design for a long time. Both in Scandinavian and modern style, it is the essence of freshness and the safest solution for universal design, subject to constant change. See how the designers of Flash&DQ interpreted white, designing original lamps in this colour. How, in this case, look interior design arrangements and what does it have to do with LED technology? We will discuss these and other aspects of white in lighting in this article.

Whiteness and glitter

Bright interiors are keen on not only perfectly matched lighting, but the whiteness and brilliance. Shiny objects or furniture and snow-white walls are especially good in places where we are missing light. We are seeking for bright colours, among others in the Scandinavian style, which for several seasons have been winning the hearts of enthusiasts of cozy and homely atmosphere. From the quintessence of the concept we draw a lot of inspiration. Luminaires, apart from the typical functionality associated with the illumination of the interior, should fulfill another role - decoration. Even better when they give the effect of brightening and glitter when they are off. How to do it? Use ultra-modern materials, which combined with a streamlined design create a perfect duet.

The original shape of the lamp HB886 and HB443, which owes its form to the use of the polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass, gently sparkles and thanks to its reflections increases the lamp's dynamics. This will contrast with the matte surface of the walls, and even if they are also white, the bright interior will not be boring, but bright and cheerful. the presence of colourful detail that highlights the snowy whiteness of the body is also important. Thanks to the contrasting colour palette, the lamp stands out with a modern style which corresponds beautifully with cozy home interior. Honored with the prestigious "Good Design" award by the Polish Institute of Industrial Design, it combines Scandinavian excellence and modernity. It would fit perfectly both in an open kitchen attached to a living room or in a big bedroom -anywhere we have considerable surface to illuminate.

White in the kitchen

According to the report, "What does a Polish kitchen look like? " prepared by Homebook.pl, white turned out to be the most frequently chosen colour for the kitchen room. That kind of kitchen was chosen by 46% of respondents. The reason for that is probably the fact that thanks to the bright colours, even small rooms are likely to be functional, pleasant to use and more versatile. Such spaces are perfect for Archep- a luminaire with a classical form, inspired by the loft aesthetics, in a white matt colour, enriched with an interesting technological detail - colourcolourful light coming from the gap between the body and the diffuser. It would splendidly illuminate a large table, countertop or even a kitchen island.

If someone has more cubic capacity and space between the ceiling and the floor at disposal - for example a high apartment or a living room with a mezzanine in a detached house – he or she can apply a stronger and larger decorative accent. The Marall lamp and its slender form will emphasize the vertical character of the interior, while the body, despite of its considerable dimensions ( 115 cm of height), thanks to its whiteness, wouldn't make an overwhelming impression.

Whiteness in the shade of ecru

If you think that white or black have only one shade you are wrong. Palette of white and black is extremely rich. In the Japanese culture the black (kuro) is a symbol of nobility, age and experience as opposed to white (shiro) meaning youth and naivety. In the Chinese tradition we've got the still fashionable concept of yin and yang, based on similar combinations. Yang, in short, means sunlight represented by white and the Sun, while yin embodies blackout symbolized by black and the Moon. That's why the White Concept collection, based on the contrast of black and ecru, expresses the philosophies of the far East which are focused on harmony and simplicity. It fits perfectly in the climate of white, minimalistic interiors. At the same time it introduces a pleasant sense of balance, which is considered to be one of the highest values in the countries of the Far East.

White, design and LED lighting technology - what to look for?

Although the pure form of white lamps is beyond doubt and is purely a case of aesthetics , the colour of light has a huge impact on people and on the interior design. The relation between lighting and the white colour is crucial because the light sources emit white light in various shades. Therefore, it is essential, especially with LED sources, to make the correct choice of colour temperature. Temperature of 3000K is ideal for home and general use as it is the most similar to the classic light bulb. It will look good in warm colour arrangements and in areas where we want to achieve a sense of coziness. 4000K colour temperature is neutral and free of yellow shades (sometimes called the "daylight"). It will perfectly suit the home office, offices and other rooms dedicated to work. It will provide us with a high level of concentration and prevent from the attacks of drowsiness. It is also universal in combination with the colours used in the interior. To ensure a good fit of illumination to the needs of the moment it is worth to use the dimmable versions of luminaires - with DALI drivers. This will allow us to benefit fully from of the possibilities of LED technology and create the right atmosphere in the interior.

You should not be afraid of integrated LEDs. Why? Firstly, they most often have much better lighting parameters. Secondly, their lifespan is much longer, as compared to conventional light sources and their LED retrofits. For example, the lifespan of a standard LED bulb for E27 is 10 000h. The luminaire with an integrated light source (e.g. Flash&DQ) can have a lifespan of 50 000 hours. This means that, in residential use, assuming an average operating time of 4 hours a day, 365 days a year, the lamp will work for 34 years. So, one would sooner rearrange the interior, than need to replace the light source

We consider white to be one of the cleanest and most universal colours. It works perfectly in interior design and lighting. Wherever we want subtlety and harmony. When seeking for new forms it is worth to reach for Flash&DQ technology, distinguished by beautiful forms. The Flash&DQ luminaires combine sophisticated design with the latest lighting solutions.
